Self Esteem

Stop comparing yourself with others.
There will always be some people who have more than you and some who have less.
You are unique and your purpose is to express your uniqueness. Who can do that better than you?

Stop diminishing yourself with negative judgments.

You can’t develop high self-esteem if you repeat negative phrases about yourself and your abilities.

Avoid perfectionism.

Perfectionism paralyzes you and keeps you from accomplishing your goals.

Surround yourself with positive, supportive people.

When you are surrounded by negative people who constantly put you down, your self-esteem is diminished.

Acknowledge yourself.

Get yourself a beautiful booklet, and write in it every night, before going to sleep, 20 things you did well during the day. Big or small, doesn’t matter, as long as you allow yourself to feel acknowledged.

Give more of yourself to those around you.

When you do things for others, you are making a positive contribution and subsequently begin to feel more valuable, which, in turn, lifts your spirits and raises your own self-esteem.

Get involved in the work and activities that inspire you.

It’s hard to feel good about yourself if your days are spent in work you detest.
Even if you cannot leave your present work situation immediately, you can still devote leisure time to hobbies and activities, which you find stimulating and enjoyable.

Be true to yourself.

Live your own life – not the life others have decided is best for you.
If you’re making decisions based on getting approval from friends and relatives, you aren’t being true to yourself and your self-esteem will suffer as a direct consequence.

Solve problems.

Don’t avoid problems, and don’t complain about them.
Treat them as challenges and opportunities for growth.

Respect your own needs.

Recognize and take care of your own needs and wants first.
Identify what really fulfills you – not just immediate gratifications.
Respecting your deeper needs will increase your sense of worth and well-being.

Free yourself from “shoulds”.

Live your life on the basis of what is possible for you and what feels right to you instead of what you or others think you “should” do.
Discover what you want and what you are good at and take actions designed to fulfill your potential.

Take action!

You won’t develop high self-esteem if you sit on the sidelines and avoid challenges.
When you take action – regardless of the result – you feel better about yourself.
When you fail to move forward because of fear and anxiety, you create frustration and dissatisfaction within yourself.

Happy Woman’s Day

Women are amazing creatures
Moulded with dazzling features
Women are an object of mystery
Have their own place in history

Women are great
They make the best dates
Except when they turn up very late

Without women
What will become of us?
No more noises on the bus
No one to make all the fuss

Without women
What will become of men?
Who will teach them,
How to behave and learn?

Women are the spicy ingredient of romance
Women are the juicy parent of importance
Women are a heavenly treasure
The epitome of human pleasure

Without women
Would this earth have survived?

Without women
Imagine how many will feel deprived

Women are simply delicious
Beware they can be serious
Especially when suspicious
And turn to Mrs Vicious

Women are priceless
Without women
Life will be without spice
Simply lifeless

What is Prayer?

Prayer is one of the greatest tools one can have in the world because it opens the door to a dialogue with God. To pray is to know to whom you are speaking, rather than the form it takes. Prayer means that one is engaged in a dialogue with God in particular. Prayer means that you are beginning a dialogue with the One Who created you, the One who never left you, and you are reestablishing that connection within your mind, within your heart, and giving yourself the opportunity to have a deeper experience with Source. Prayer is the opportunity to transcend the world in any given moment and connect with what is really True and Real. When one chooses prayer, one is choosing to step aside from all that seems to be happening and seek connection with their Father.

“If you say a prayer to God and you stop for a moment and connect with God, acknowledge God, thank God, or appreciate God in the course of that prayer, its function will have been fulfilled. If you say a prayer without acknowledging God or connecting with God in some way, then the function of the prayer is not fulfilled. It does not matter what is prayed for and it does not matter what the outcome of the specific request is because the function of the prayer is to connect with God, to remember Truth, to overcome the dream in that moment. This is not necessarily acknowledged or understood in the moment, but by asking something of One Whom you’ve never seen and have no proof of, just by that act, you are overcoming the world.

“If you say a prayer because you think you should, because it is the right thing to do, because it couldn’t hurt, or out of an obligation or responsibility, again the prayer does not fulfill its function. A prayer can be as simple as “Hello, God” or “Thank You, God” or it can be an unending dialogue about anything you want to share with God. Prayer need not happen in a physical church, but in the church within you. If you are walking down the street, driving in your car, or shopping in a store, and you have the thought to say hello to God, thank God, or ask for something in as light-hearted and casual a way or as serious a way as you feel called, it is all the same.

Many believe they must be serious and reverent in their prayers with God, and yet that is unnecessary. Remembering God in a happy moment as well as a challenging moment is a wonderful blessing for everyone, and to connect with God in whatever place you are is always welcome.

“Prayer is necessary in the process of hearing God’s Voice. It is not that you must get on your knees and pray the rosary this many times a day in these particular ways and then you will someday hear God. Prayer is what opens the dialogue. One person has to start talking for another person to talk back. It does not matter who talks first, what is said, where, how, or anything else, though as long as two people sit silently, no dialogue will occur. It could be said that God talks to you at all times, and at some point, you acknowledge that and you talk back and that is prayer. Then you hear God more specifically because you are now engaged in the conversation. Once you start a conversation through prayer, whatever that looks like, the relationship begins….
